I’m not sure how we got to December 3rd already, but yet here we are in the last weeks of 2013.
My October & November were probably the busiest months this year. There were urban sketches outside, a concert (Bon Jovi!), fun times with friends, opportunity to sketch from the top floor of the Vancouver City Hall, photos upon photos of colourful leaves, Thanksgiving… and then there was moving to a new apartment.
November had 13 days without internet, sweet get togethers with friends, seemingly endless painting of our new place, setting up my art studio (I have an official studio now! *insert big smiley bunny here* but that’s a separate blog post in itself), cold weather & rain, Anonymous Art Show participation with my husband, preparation for Craft Fair, Craft Fair, filling Daisy’s shop orders and more wall painting.
And now, here we are.. December 2013.
Just like that September (and Summer) is done and October (thus Fall) is here. For once I am quite excited about this Fall, mainly because of something to look forward to at the end of the month. Recently my husbunny & I found our dream two bedroom apartment (smoke-free, pet-friendly, large two bedrooms, walk-in closet, brand new appliances, hardwood floors, dishwasher AND $100 below our budget) and we’ll be moving at the end of October. We are super thrilled, especially since we don’t even have to leave our (mostly mine) favourite neighbourhood (West End) or even the favourite micro-neighbourhood (west of Denman street part of West End). I am super attached to my English Bay and Stanley park and it was painful to imagine giving it up and, luckily, we don’t have to.
With that good news being told, I also wanted to announce that I’ll be having a Moving Sale this month. Moving sale will include crafty scrapbooking goodness, project life materials and even some of my original art work, all heavily discounted. So please stay tuned for that : )
And so, hello October. I am looking forward to your adventures. ♥
Oh, yes. Art Battle is returning tomorrow for its 5th season in Canada and 3rd season in Vancouver. It’s going to be one AMAZING night full of live art, fun music and a great community. So if you’re in Vancouver please come by and witness this spectacular event for yourself.
Oh, and I’ll be one of the artists competing tomorrow, in case you needed an extra reason to come
Hope to see you there!
You know you enjoyed your August to the fullest when the last blog post was about July.
Oh, August.. I swear you fly by the quickest. ♥ IKEA trip ♥ fireworks ♥ beach days ♥ pool days ♥ wedding anniversary ♥ double dates ♥ restocking Daisy’s Etsy shop ♥ art competitions ♥ girls night out ♥ day trips to the Zoo, Capilano suspension bridge, Granville island, Golden Ears.. the list goes on and on. This August, and this summer in general, was probably the sunniest, happiest, fun-filled summer I’ve had, for which I am very very grateful.
Luckily, the first two days of September were sunny and warm, so I’m still enjoying the last blessing of this nice summer ♥
Dear July, you were wonderful.
Thank you for beach days, AMAZING weather, new friends, old friends, sketches, seawall strolls, Shakespeare play, farmers market, date nights, morning walks, family visits, Etsy sales, bunny snuggles and TWO legendary concerts (RUSH and JT & Jay-Z). August might have a hard time topping you.
Yesterday was a special day for me. It marked One Year anniversary since my very first sketch outside. I remember how scared and shy I was that day, and how much I wanted to be invisible to the people around me. Since then I’ve grown a little braver and have done 33 sketches, including yesterday’s sketch. I wanted to come back to the same spot (in Stanley Park, by the Totem Poles) and paint exact same view as I did a year ago.
I sat a little closer (right on the seawall) this time as my last year’s spot was taken, plus I wanted the city scape to be more detailed. Nearly 2 hours and a sunburn later, that’s what I came up with, my anniversary sketch of sketching outside
Somehow I blinked and it was gone. Just like that. Yet it was filled with lots of events, laughter & joy. There were
♥ picnic with my love
♥ art battle
♥ movies: Epic, Great Gatsby (x 2), Man of Steel & Monsters University
♥ girls night out
♥ time with a dear friend visiting from Toronto
♥ charity event
♥ seawall walks
♥ desserts, desserts & more sweet desserts
♥ double dates
♥ & urban sketches around Vancouver
As always I am very grateful for this beautiful, fun-filled month and half a year so far. Recently I saw this quote on Pinterest that sums up how I feel right now.
“Gratitude doesn’t change the scenery. It merely washes clean the glass you look through so you can clearly see the colours.” -Richelle E. Goodrich
