Get Messy || art journaling 17

Today at Get Messy we each reveal our takes on this month’s prompt by the lovely miss Sabine, that goes something like this.
Journaling Challenge: Live your adventurous dreams on paper. What would you love to do, or at least try, if you had the courage to live more adventurously?
Art Challenge: Try a method or material you’ve never worked with before.
Sounds pretty exciting, don’t you think? Here is what I came up with 🙂
For the art challenge I tried hand stitching on the page, which was definitely out of my comfort zone. But supposedly, that’s when the creativity really happens hence my message on the page.
And for the journaling challenge: I used that pesky art journal page that was supposed to make an appearance last week (but decided it didn’t want to) and washi taped my “adventure” list to it. I wrote down the places I would love to visit and possibly live in, if I were so adventurous. I love how the first two places on my visit list are specific and most likely attainable next year, and the following two places are more ‘out there’.
Oh, and here is a little sketch of a morning cat that I did a few days ago. Most mornings that’s exactly how I look and feel.GetMessyOlyaSchmidt
That’s all for this week. Don’t forget to visit our link up party to see what everyone else has created for September’s prompt. And check back next week where we reveal our October’s prompt, provided by yours truly 🙂

Fall Printables

Happy First Day of Fall, guys!
It has been waaaay too long since I’ve done some freebies and I hope you can forgive me. To make it up to you I’ve made 3 Fall printables for you to use in your Project Life albums, or hang as prints. Oh, and one extra one to record your current mood. Maybe you’ll want to print that for scrapbooking or display it in your office so people know how to approach you that day. The use of these is completely up to you! One thing I ask for is that you don’t sell or claim it as your own work, because that’s not very nice.
So, go print crazy. (right click and save for higher resolution) 🙂

Get Messy || art journaling 16

Hello hello,
Let me tell you a little story. I’ve been working on what I thought would be this week’s Get Messy pages for the last couple of days, like the kind of person who plans ahead and doesn’t create hours before the blog post is due. (read: not me 🙂 ) Well, the pages were painted, set aside to dry, painted again, set to dry again, and so on, you get the picture. One page was done but its neighbour, oh man.. the more I painted it, the less I liked it. True artist struggle (which by the way, I rarely experience. Hence why I don’t paint or create when I’m feeling negative and moody, things (and my mood) only get worse. Every single time). Anyways, back to those painted pages. As the daylight was disappearing and I had limited time to photograph my pages for the blog, let alone still create with them, I made the executive call not to use them at all. That good one will probably make an appearance next week, and hopefully its neighbour page too, once I work on it some more 😉
So for now, I give three other, less painted, more simple pages for this week’s installment of Get Messy art journaling.
This third page was used as part of the creative answers for my guest blog feature of Hello Lovely by Caylee. I decided that to be considered an art journal page it needed some colour, in form of washi tape. IMG_6317.JPGAnd as always, that’s all for this week. Next week we all reveal our take on this month’s prompt. (woohoo) and the week after that it’s my turn to give a prompt for October! (double woohoo). Exciting times, my friends.
