Hello December memories

When Stampin’ Up! asked me to work with their Hello December kits, I knew I had to say yes. You see, when it comes to Christmas decorations, especially in scrapbooking, I’m extremely picky. I like the classic red and green and white, but I want less of the green, and more of the white, oh and some glitter, but it can’t be just any glitter, has to be either gold, silver and maybe red, but not too much. My picky list can go on forever, but it won’t because this kit is perfect, merry and bright, with all the right colours.

I started documenting my December memories from last year by using the 6×8 album, page protectors and the wonderful clear envelopes, all from Stampin’ Up! The envelopes were perfect to store the little (and not so little) tidbids that I collected over the holiday season. I put a ticket from the Festival of Lights we went to, birthday tag from my husband’s birthday, extra photos that didn’t make it into the album, pamphlets and other Christmas goodies in it. The envelope also comes with a clear pocket on top of it, so I stuck a sweet note from my husband in there 🙂

After you flip the envelope, there is a mini title page, capturing some of my favourite Christmasy things. Of course that includes the Starbucks red cups and their Holiday drinks. Photo 2014-11-27, 10 04 45 PM
A better look at the title page. I really like that ‘Jolly Holiday’ title card.Photo 2014-11-27, 10 18 49 PM And here are the next two pages in my 6×8 album.Photo 2014-11-27, 10 11 45 PM
Left hand page is simple with just one 4×6 photo and some title cards. I stamped Hello December on the photo and added a little silver asterisk next to it. Photo 2014-11-27, 10 18 22 PM
Right hand side page has more photos and only one title page. I really liked that ‘all the pretty lights’ journaling card and knew exactly the photo I’d be using it with. That card paired up with the ‘Joy’ card across from it balances the yellow colours well and unifies with the other two cards without being tacky. Photo 2014-11-27, 10 17 56 PM
Wood veneers, my forever love. For this ‘Merry’ wood veneer bubble, I created a background that I made from the kit’s washi tape. I adhered the bubble on top of the page protectors, bringing all 4 pocket pages together in one very merry event. (see what I did there? 😉 he hee) Photo 2014-11-27, 10 14 15 PM I loved the Hello December kit so much that I created another 2 page layout, and this time it was a 12×12 Project Life spread. The left hand side page was about our everyday things, which included nature walks, our Daisy bunny getting well after a rough sickness, seeing “Frozen” in theatres and trips to my favourite bookstore. Photo 2014-11-27, 10 27 35 PM
The right hand side was dedicated to an amazing snow day Vancouver had (which lasted only that one day, hence why I went crazy photographing it). I used the stamp from the kit to stamp right on photos, as well as the stickers, wood veneers, and sequins. Photo 2014-11-27, 10 30 37 PM
Those cute little word stickers expressed my thoughts exactly.Photo 2014-11-27, 10 32 04 PM
Again, I loved all the title and journaling cards that were in the kit. And don’t even get me started on the transparencies. I used the ‘joy’ one over the hot cocoa + Christmas tree photo. Photo 2014-11-27, 10 33 39 PM
And that’s all the layouts I have for you today. Don’t forget to stop by the Stampin’ Up! store to get your Hello December goodies. They’ll be perfect to document all your festive December moments.

Hello again

Hello Hello,
I took a three week break from blogging due to moving + settling in our new place. I sure missed posting regularly but it being deliberately away from the blogosphere helped me to focus on our move without feeling guilty about it.
Here’s a recap of what I did in the last three weeks:
•Instagrammed my new art studio
•contributed content to Big Picture Class “Catch Up with Project Life” class party that will take place this Saturday
•talked about my Project Life pages on Citrus Twist Kits blog
•contributed to Caylee’s post about Project Life lessons
•received the best Christmas stamp to date.
•saw this and this in theaters. Both are my favourite movies of the year (though Maleficent is close second).
•chipped my tooth which lead to (another) root canal. Add getting a cold on top of that too.
•finished and mailed 4 custom pet portraits.
•designed wedding invitations for my best friend.
• had two posts on me & my BIG ideas blog: this art journaling one and this one.
•was kindly mentioned in Amy Tangerine’s blog post here and Jodie’s post here.
•bought two new Project Life kits from Laura’s new release. Seriously, that girl is amazing.
•received a happy December mail from Stampin’ Up!
•ordered these emoji stamps and signed up for my first subscriptionIMG_9024.JPG
And that about sums it up.
This weekend I’ll be at the West End Holiday Craft Fair, so if you’re local to Vancouver area, come by and say hello!
