my travel sketchbook: San Francisco

Hello hello!

Last month I visited San Francisco for the first time and naturally I’ve kept a moleskine sketchbook with me throughout the trip, to be filled with sketches, instax photos, doodles and notes about my adventures. I did some urban sketching on location a few times (Golden Gate Bridge – check!) and worked on my daily notes back at the hotel each night, allowing me to document most of the trip before boarding our plane back!
Once I was at home I journaled about our last day there, printed a few tiny photos (I use wireless Canon Selphy printer) since my well used/loved Instax camera finally gave out while on the trip, added some extra stickers and washi tape and called it done.
And so here it is, my San Francisco sketchbook:

and the last few pages:
I’m so glad I took those instant polaroid photos, kept up with daily notes and included some of the paper memorabilia from the places we went to. Documenting on-the-go not only allowed me to capture all the little details that would otherwise be forgotten quickly, but provided me with a treasured time-capsule of my trip as soon as I was back home.
I love all my travel sketchbooks and would definitely recommend this kind of memory keeping to anyone who likes to travel.

So that’s it for now, friends. Thank you so much for stopping by and checking out my stuff 🙂

Sketch Your World

I’m so excited to share that I’m teaching a new class Sketch Your World with Studio Calico.
In this fun class I’ll introduce you to the tools & techniques I use every day to capture the world around me. We’ll go over different materials and practice basic drawing exercises to get you more comfortable using pens & watercolours. Then we’ll move on to sketching your surroundings and I’ll go over the different techniques, tips + tricks on how to creatively capture the world as you see it, both indoors and outdoors. The content is video based and will have lots of practice exercises. There is also a FREE stamp set when you sign up (while supplies last) designed by yours truly 🙂 Oh, and I also designed another stamp and these watercolour cards, both available for purchase in their shop. *happy dance*
This class is enrolling now and the content goes LIVE February 1st. I hope to see you there!

my travel sketchbook: Denver & Phoenix
A few days ago I came back from my trip to Denver, Colorado and Phoenix, Arizona. I’ve kept a moleskine sketchbook with me throughout the trip and filled it with urban sketches, instax photos, doodles and notes about my adventures. I was able to work on my sketchbook almost each night back at the hotel, allowing me to complete 80% of it by the time I got home. Yesterday I added some stickers, washi tape and a few extra doodles and called it done.
Here are the pages from my trip:
I’m so glad I’ve kept up my daily notes and remembered to take the instant polaroid photos. Little (and even not so little) details disappear so quickly and I really wanted to remember this awesome trip as vividly as I can. I will also be documenting these adventures through a Project Life 6″x8″ album, for which I’ll print photos from my iPhone and add some memorabilia that I saved while traveling. So if you’re interested in seeing an even more detailed travel album of this Denver + Phoenix trip, stay tuned 😉
